“Principles, Practice and Hazards of Bio Medical Waste Management”

 Conference Report

Two day National Conference on Hospital Waste Management  titled “Principles, Practice and Hazards of Bio Medical Waste Management” was organized on 1st and 2nd December 2017 at Kuvempu Kalakshetra, Bangaloe Instititue of Technology campus, K. R.Road, V.V.Pur, Bangalore in association with Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management, Delhi. Pre conference visit to M S Ramaiah Medical college Hospital was scheduled on 30th December 2017 for the participants to introduce them to the best practices on Bio medical Waste Management, Sewage treatment  and Hospital liquid waste Management. The preconference visit  provided an opportunity for the participants to witness the best practices.

The Conference was presided by Dr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal, President, Indian Society of Hospital waste Management, Delhi, Mr. Lakshman, Honorable chairman for Karnataka State Pollution  Control Board was the Chief Guest of the function.

Inauguration was followed by introduction of US delegation by Rampur S Viswanath President, ACHMM Indi chapter, Bangalore. Mr. Lakshman, Chairman, KSPCB, Bangalore released ISHWM journal, Lt.General Sanjeev Chopra, Director General Health Services, New Delhi, Dr. B.N.Gangadhar, Directon NIMHANS, and Dr. Yellappareddy, noted environmentalist and Past member Lokyuktha addressed the gathering.

Dr. Govardhan and Dr. Shivaram  were fecilitated for the legendary services rendered in the field of Bio Medical Waste Management Practices.

Participant delegates included the representation from DGHS Delhi, Lucknow, Nepal, Government of Karnataka, medical colleges, laboratories, and research institutions. Around 250 participants attended the conference.

The conference addressed all aspects within the scope of the title during technical sessions scheduled on 1st and 2nd of December 2017.
